Vicki Peter

Hi, my name is Vicki Peter and I have a passion for teaching. I have been teaching for 25 years and tutoring for 6 years. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Maranatha Baptist University and my Master’s Degree from Bob Jones University. After teaching for several years, I started developing an interest in personal financing and business math. As I studied the subjects, I found my passions grow to include helping upperclassmen prepare for adulthood by learning to manage their finances. So I started teaching Business Math and Personal Financing.

I enjoy tutoring young people because it allows me just to focus on teaching in the purest sense. I find great joy when I see “the light go on” for a student–especially in the area of mathematics which can be abstract and frustrating for students. I have a 100% success rate in which all of my students’ grades improve–most of which see an increase of 2-3 grade levels. I strongly believe that if I can help establish a strong foundation in the areas of Pre-Algebra and Algebra I, students will be successful through the rest of their high school mathematical career.

If your child wants to succeed, I can help them do it!

I am accepting students for Elementary and Middle School math, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra I.

I’m quite experienced in the subjects of high school math: Geometry, Algebra I and II, and Trigonometry. I can also tutor for Calculus courses and Differential Equations as needed. I enjoy tutoring and helping others with math in general, so I’m happy to help in any of these subjects. I’ve tutored classmates in Algebra II and Trigonometry during high school, and I’ve also tutored people taking Calculus, PreCalculus, and Differential Equations. I’ve even helped some friends in Discrete Mathematics. Right now, I am teaching a Trigonometry equivalent class at Portland State University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Science for Mathematics from Seattle Pacific University. I’m currently studying to acquire a Master’s in Science for Mathematics Teachers at Portland State University.
